Monoï de Tahiti

Monoï de Tahiti—the sacred oil of French Polynesia takes a major role in Polynesian history and culture. It dates back over 2000 years. Early explorers were overwhelmed by the beauty of the Polynesian women. The Islands and their inhabitants were effected by the drying harsh sun, the wind and salt water, yet the Tahitians were able to protect their skin and hair with a miracle oil - Monoï de Tahiti.
Monoï de Tahiti is created with two ingredients. The tiare flower (Gardenia tahitensis) with its sweet and sensuous fragrance and the light and silky Tahitian coconut oil. Coconuts used in the preparation of Monoï de Tahiti are picked exclusively from the coralrich soil of Tahiti and her islands.
The process of creating Monoï de Tahiti begins with tiare buds being hand-picked and then placed in pure Tahitian coconut oil to infuse. This process is called "enfleurage" (a French term for flower soaking/extraction). The tiare flowers slowly release their unique properties into the coconut oil and thus a magical transformation takes place and Monoï de Tahiti is created. According to specific maceration standards set by the decree of the Appellation d'Origine, the manufacturer must adhere to strict guidelines where a minimum of fifteen tiare flowers are soaked into 1 litre of coconut oil for a minimum of fifteen days. This is carefully monitored by modern laboratory tests to ensure the highest quality and remaining fully respectful of the ancient and traditional Polynesian methods.
The tiare flower is used for the relief of migraines, ear ache, healing of wounds, mosquito bites and the cure for certain types of eczema. Monoï de Tahiti remains an integral part of the Polynesian rich heritage and culture.
Monoï de Tahiti will moisturize the skin leaving it smoother and softer, repair and protect dry and damaged skin and hair, purify oily skin and return its natural balance and soothe the skin after exposure to the sun, salt water and other harsh elements.
For generations, the secret of beautiful Tahitian women has always been Monoï de Tahiti.
